Expansion Joint Fillerboards
Expansion Joint Fillerboards are used in expansion or isolation joints in concrete or masonry structures to separate or isolate them to allow for movements and to relieve stress, due to the following reasons:
- Thermal expansion and contraction movements caused by temperature changes
- Settlement or upheaval movements of the substrate
- Serviceability and associated applied loads
- Wind loading and seismic forces
Expansion joints are designed in all types of construction elements and substrates which are subject to many types of conditions. It is very important, that the expansion joint fillerboard specified and used, be the correct type and of a quality that can handle the associated conditions, movements, loadings and chemical resistance requirements, and also support the application of a joint sealant if applied.
